PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Rickie Fowler has made three PGA TOUR starts in 2014 and used two different Scotty Cameron putters -- a Tour-only Fastback+ (Humana Challenge and Farmers Insurance Open) and Circa '62 No. 3 (Waste Management Phoenix Open).
The count could increase to three Scotty Cameron models this week at the Northern Trust Open, after Fowler was spotted working with a Circle-T Newport 2 Tri-Sole on the practice green at Riviera Country Club.
The tri-sole design has been a part of the Cameron line since the late 90's and has been used by countless players over the years, including Tiger Woods. The sole allows the center section of the head to be soled at address, which promotes a smooth takeaway and follow through.
According to Scotty Cameron reps, the putter has been in Fowler's possession for years and has his name on the back bumper. The putter is subdued compared to the Fastback+ and Circa '62 No. 3 Fowler's used in recent weeks that featured orange and black paint fill -- a nod to his alma mater, Oklahoma State.
Fowler has struggled with the flatstick in his last few events — he's missed his last two cuts at the Farmers Insurance Open and Waste Management Phoenix Open -- and currently ranks 164th in strokes gained/putting (-1.161) and 151st in total putting (248.9).
