Nike Golf unveiled the apparel scripting for Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy on Thursday for next week's PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.
With the humidity typically ranging for 51 to 94 percent in Rochester, NY during the month of August, Nike chose to outfit Woods, McIlroy and the rest of its athletes in Dri-FIT fabrications from the company's Fall 2013 Collection that promote a natural range of motion and pull sweat away from the body.
“Since becoming a Nike athlete this year, I’ve been absolutely blown away by every detail that goes into apparel design and development,” said Nike staffer Nick Watney. “Whether it’s Dri-FIT, no-sew technology or a perforated collar that reduces weight, it is this kind of detail that helps me to perform better.”
Woods actually wore a similar of his Thursday shirt during the first round of the Bridgestone Invitational. As far as the rest of his apparel is concerned, he'll wear his signature TW '14 shoes all four days (red and black) and the standard red shirt (although it has black on the back) on Sunday.
McIlroy, the defending champion, will once again go with a variety of colors at the PGA Championship. He'll also sport three different colorways of Nike's Lunar Control shoe.
