Needing a flawless final round to gain a spot in next week's Masters field, Martin Laird produced one of the best rounds — if not the best — of his career with a stellar 9-under 63 that saw him come from five shots back to win the Valero Texas Open.
With the win, Laird became the first TaylorMade staffer to win with RocketBallz Stage 2 driver in the bag. Laird started testing the 9-degree driver at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and put it in play for the first round. He also became the first to win with TaylorMade's Lethal ball on the PGA TOUR.
