You rarely see players on the PGA TOUR forego fairway woods or hybrids for long irons, but that's exactly what Charlie Beljan decided to do when he dropped his woods for three Cleveland 588 MT irons (2-, 3- and 4-iron).
As Beljan mentioned in the latest "Tools of the Trade," he hits the 2-iron -- also known as his driving iron -- 260-270 yards off the tee and it gives him a good chance to keep the ball in play and make birdie.
Beljan's favorite club in the bag is a Cleveland Classic XL Custom 9-degree with a Miyazaki B. Asha 5 Series shaft. He switched to the new driver this season and has averaged 290 yards in six starts.
His bag also includes a set of Cleveland 588 CB irons (5-PW) and three 588 RTX CB wedges (52 degrees, 56 degrees and 60 degrees).
