ORLANDO, Fla. -- PGA TOUR players have a huge influence on the golf clubs that hit the market each year. Case in point: Vokey Design's new TVD-K grind wedge, which was unveiled and added to the Wedgworks lineup at the PGA Merchandise Show.
Thanks to recent work with PGA TOUR players Adam Scott, Ben Crane and Jason Dufner — who already use the TVD-K — master craftsman Bob Vokey was able to develop a sole that's playable in a variety of conditions.
“The TVD-K is the evolution of the TK grind that we had on TOUR and as a limited release in WedgeWorks,” Vokey said. “It has a wider sole, with more camber. It has enough bounce to be very forgiving out of the bunkers but still allows shotmaking around the greens. It’s been popular with a lot of guys I’ve worked with on TOUR including Adam, Jason and Ben.”
Like every wedge in the Vokey line, each wedge in TVD-K lineup is slightly different. The 56 degree features a wider, more cambered sole that makes it very playable from the bunker. The 58- and 60-degree wedges feature a full sole with higher bounce, making it the perfect club for a neutral to digger swing types in a variety of conditions.
The TVD-K is available in three loft/bounce combinations (56.12 degrees, 58.10 degrees and 60.10 degrees) and two exclusive finishes (California Chrome and Graphite Ion). The wedge also comes with Vokey's SM4 grooves for maximum allowable spin on full shots.
Since the wedge is offered through Vokey's Wedgeworks system, golfers will be able to customize every aspect of their wedge from length, lie and loft, to toe engraving, personalized stamping, paintfill, grips, shafts, ferrules and shaftbands.
The TVD-K wedge will be available in March through WedgeWorks on Vokey.com with a suggested retail price of $160.
