    Michael Allen will defend his title this week at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic at Fallen Oak in Biloxi.

    The event has a new sponsor this year. Wireless communications company C Spire embarks on a three-year agreement to become presenting sponsor.

    Allen rallied in the final round last year to overcome Bernhard Langer. Allen shot 67 in the decisive third round for an 11-under 205 total and one-stroke victory over Langer. Russ Cochran, Gene Sauers and Tom Pernice, Jr. tied for third at 208.

    Allen began the final round 2 shots behind Langer. Allen erased the deficit with seven birdies on the first 13 holes, including five straight beginning at the third.

    Colin Montgomerie -- He’s scoring better and finishing higher every week – T10 at Allianz, T6 at ACE Group and T2 at Toshiba. And that final-round 62 at Toshiba will no doubt inspire him. His Champions Tour stock is definitely on the rise.
