
A native of Savannah, Ga., and a Georgia Southern product, Gene Sauers was a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR with his most recent victory coming at the 2002 Air Canada Championship. The winner of the PGA TOUR's 2002 Comeback Player of the Year award, he was also runner-up at the 1992 PGA Championship. Sauers was sidelined for a period of time in recent years battling Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a potentially fatal disease. He turned 50 on Aug. 22 and is making his Champions Tour debut at the Boeing Classic.
