Gary Woodland outlasted Brooks Koepka and the rest of the field at Pebble Beach to claim his first major championship at the U.S. Open, a result that pushed him deeper inside the Wyndham Rewards Top 10.
With the intimidating Koepka making a charge on Sunday, Woodland held his nerve with his fourth straight round in the 60’s to win by three shots.
Woodland started the week facing the possibility of falling out of the rewards zone but instead surged from ninth to fifth on the back of the victory.
Matt Kuchar is still on top after his T16 result at Pebble Beach – in fact the top four remains the same with after they all played well. Rory McIlroy backed up his win at the RBC Canadian Open with a T9 to remain second, Koepka’s runner up left him in third place on the list and Xander Schauffele’s T3 at Pebble has him remain in fourth.
Justin Rose moves up from the bubble spot of 10th to ninth after he was T3 at Pebble leaving Rickie Fowler to drop back on the bubble. Jon Rahm, who was also T3 at the U.S. Open is the first player outside the zone.
The top 10 in the standings after the Wyndham Championship -- the final event of the PGA TOUR's regular season -- will receive a portion of the $10 million bonus in the new Wyndham Rewards Top 10 competition.
First place after the Wyndham Championship will receive $2 million, followed by $1.5 million for second, all the way to $500,000 for 10th place, the final spot eligible for a bonus.
