Two weeks ago, Brice Garnett cracked the driver he’s been using for the last two years.
He bounced around with different models and different brands for the last two tournaments (he missed both the cuts), but this week, PING built him a new driver and he rode it to victory Sunday at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank.
“I drove the ball great all week ... it set me up for wedges,” said Garnett, the latest winner on the Web.com Tour. “It was one of those dumb-luck builds that happened Monday before the pro-am. The new driver was definitely key for me this week.”
Garnett, who plays without an equipment contract (he said it gives him ‘a lot of freedom’), was able to string four rounds in the 60s together for the first time all season.
He won by a shot over a trio of golfers, and although the leaderboard was bunched up tightly late Sunday, he had a feeling his 21-under total was going to hold up.
“I knew (Saturday) afternoon that the scores didn’t really go anywhere. It got firm and it was tough to judge wedges with the wind and elevation,” he said. “I didn’t look at the board all day. You have to go low on Sundays, and fortunately the breaks went my way.”
Here are all the clubs Garnett used in his mixed bag en route to his first Web.com Tour victory.
