Expert Picks: Mexico Open pres'd by Corona Light

PGA TOUR staff
PGATOUR.COM will have expert picks and sleepers for each Nationwide Tour event this year. Our experts -- Nationwide Tour producer Ceri Mobley and former Nationwide Tour and PGATOUR.COM employee Jordan Crampton -- will each choose two players they consider favorites that week and a sleeper pick (a player who is not inside "THE 25"). Here are their selections for this week's Mexico Open presented by Corona Light.
Crampton's picks Mobley's picks
Vance Veazey. Veazey is one of the stronger players in the field this week, plus he already has a win under his belt this season in Panama. He has been plagued by missed cuts this season, but when he hangs around, he usually finishes very well, and he made the cut in Mexico last season.
Henrik Bjornstad. I'm surprised Jordan left his favorite Norwegian on the table this week, so surely taking him won't go in my favor. However, the Mexico Open is at a new course this year, which means I have to go with the hot hand; he has three top-10s and a top-25 in his last five starts.
David Branshaw. After a shaky start to his season, Branshaw is finding his form, making six of his last seven cuts -- including three top-10s. Branshaw is currently on the outside of "THE 25" looking in; he needs to continue his good play, and a victory here would really solidify his position.
Garth Mulroy. Mulroy has cooled off a bit over the last month, but I can't ignore the fact that he's one of the longest hitters in the field this week as we head to the second longest course of the season. He is a proven winner, too, so that means he can keep that length under control.
Crampton's sleeper Mobley's sleeper
Matt Every. Coming off a dispointing missed cut last week, Every needs to rebound at an event where he's comfortable -- he was runner-up here last year. Every had made eight consecutive cuts prior to last week but only has one top-10 in that stretch. It's time he put himself in contention again in Mexico.
Jose de Jesus Rodriguez. Wondering who this guy is? Well, he's someone who usually plays pretty well in Mexico. He qualified for and finished T38 at the TOUR's Mexico event earlier in '09, and he tied for seventh at this tournament last year. He also ran fourth in the Mexican PGA. When in doubt, go with a local.

LAST WEEK: Our experts were quite succesful with five of six made cuts, including two top-fives and two top-25s, but they earned roughly the same amount of money, so neither expert was able to make a move.
