Maybe you've been battling the snow the last few weeks or months. As a result, you've probably spent more time gripping a shovel than a 5-iron. Your bags are in the corner of your garage, accumulating dust; your clubs are wondering if they'll ever see their owner again.
But hope -- and the thawing-out process -- is on the horizon. You'll soon be back on the course.
Are you ready to, well, get back into the swing of things?
PGATOUR.COM has called upon its experts to provide a few tips for tuning up your game. Hopefully you'll find something useful so that you're prepared for that first round at your home course.
TUNE UP YOUR CLUBS. PGATOUR.COM's Equipment Insider, Jonathan Wall, has seven suggestions to make sure that your clubs, bag and golf balls are ready to go. One of his tips involve checking your grooves. Writes Jonathan: "If you spent last season pounding balls on the range and logging three or four rounds per week, you may want to inspect the grooves on your irons and wedges." TUNE UP YOUR BODY. PGATOUR.COM'S Fitness Expert, Sean Cochran, lists the five physical pillars of the golf swing, then provides six handy exercises to get into shape. One of Sean's exercises is the Bent Knee March, which develops postural strength in the lower back and glute activation. Sounds timely. Click to read Tune Up Your Body
TUNE UP YOUR MIND. PGATOUR.COM's Mental Coach, Gregg Steinberg, has eight great tips to prepare your mind for the upcoming season. One of his tips involves building emotional toughness by creating a best-play log. Gregg suggests remembering a fantastic round, recording the course and date, then writing down the positive emotions of that round. Click to read Tune Up Your Mind
TUNE UP YOUR CLOSET. PGATOUR.COM's Style Insider, Greg Monteforte, provides six tips to refreshen your golf wardrobe. One of those tips? Grab a braided belt. Writes Greg: "While there is nothing like a luxurious leather or exotic skin belt, braided and woven belts made from stretchy rayons are on-trend this spring." Click to read Tune Up Your Closet
GOLF PRIDE GRIPS. The sponsor of March's Tune Up Your Game program is Golf Pride, the No. 1 grip in golf. Jonathan Wall details the company's line of grips and writes that, according to a Golf Pride study, "a set of well-worn, two-year-old grips can be a detriment to your game, costing you 3-4 shots per round." Time to check those grips. Click to read Golf Pride grip feature
