In a wide-ranging interview with “60 Minutes,” Bubba Watson said that he is scared of heights, buildings falling on him, the dark and crowds.
The segment will air Sunday night on CBS between 7 and 8 p.m. ET.
I can certainly attest to the latter. I recall being in an elevator with Watson at Shea Stadium in New York when the doors opened to a large mass of people exiting the game. Watson had a look of uneasiness to say the least.
Watson went on to tell CBS’ Sharyn Alfonsi that his fear of people he doesn’t know isn’t his only mental issue.
“I have a lot of mental issues … I’m just so fearful of things, which I shouldn’t be,” Watson said.
The two-time Masters champ also discussed his outbursts on the course, the inner circle of people around him, his golf and more.
As Watson’s longtime caddie Ted Scott put it, “He’s a mess, but he’s a fun mess, you know?” You can watch a clip of the excerpt here.
A longer version of the segment in which Watson plays a friendly golf match as part of the interview will appear on “60 Minutes Sports” on Tuesday between 9 and 10 p.m. ET.
