Defending champ Walker grouped with Ryder Cup teammates

NAPA, Calif. -- The PGA TOUR season begins this week at the Frys.com Open and several players have made the commute from Scotland to California for the opening event. Players like defending champion Jimmy Walker and Lee Westwood are among those who not only crossed the Atlantic Ocean after the Ryder Cup, but commuted to the Pacific Coast to tee it up at Silverado Resort. Here's a look at some groups to keep an eye on this week.
Hunter Mahan-Matt Kuchar-Jimmy Walker: This group is comprised of three members of the United States' Ryder Cup team. They were Nos. 6-8 in the FedExCup, as well. Mahan finished sixth after winning the first event of the FedExCup Playoffs, The Barclays, while Walker finished seventh and Kuchar was eighth. Walker won his first PGA TOUR title at the 2013 Frys.com Open. He went on to win two more times last season. Tee times: Rd. 1 -- 7:45 a.m. Pacific off No. 10 tee; Rd. 2 -- 12:45 p.m. Pacific off No. 1 tee.
Tim Clark-Hideki Matsuyama-Harris English: All three players won last season. Clark claimed the RBC Canadian Open, while Matsuyama won the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide and English won the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Matsuyama finished 28th in the FedExCup, advancing to his first TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, while English finished 32nd and Clark was 54th. Tee times: Rd. 1 -- 7:55 a.m. Pacific off No. 10 tee; Rd. 2 -- 12:55 p.m. Pacific off No. 1 tee.
Ben Crane-Jonas Blixt-Lee Westwood: Blixt earned his first PGA TOUR victory at the 2012 Frys.com Open. Crane won the 2014 FedEx St. Jude Classic, while Westwood is coming off the Ryder Cup, where he went 2-2-0 in Europe's victory. Tee times: Rd. 1 -- 12:45 p.m. Pacific off No. 1 tee; Rd. 2 -- 7:45 a.m. Pacific off No. 10 tee.
Chesson Hadley-Brandt Snedeker-Charles Howell III: Hadley, the 2013-14 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year, is joined by Snedeker, the 2012 FedExCup champion, and Howell, who always seems to start a season strong. Howell finished 34th in the FedExCup last season, while Hadley ranked 49th and Snedeker was 86th. Tee times: Rd. 1 -- 12:55 p.m. Pacific off No. 1 tee; Rd. 2 -- 7:55 a.m. Pacific off No. 10 tee.
