  • Watson, Jones share lead in Phoenix

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Matt Jones ended his round the way he began it Fridat at TPC Scottsdale -- with a birdie.

The latter gave Jones his second straight 65 and puts him in a share of the lead with Bubba Watson at 12 under after two rounds of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Watson, looking for his first win since the 2012 Masters, shot 66 after bogeys on two of his final thre holes.

Harris English and Greg Chalmers are two strokes back after each shot 67.

"We definitely got the good side of the draw going early," Jones said. "It's going to be cold and the ball isn't going as far."

Not that it seemed to affect Jones or Watson.

Jones, an Australian, is used to the wind and plays out of nearby Whisper Rock. Watson also keeps a home in the area.

"I feel like I should win on every golf course," Watson said, smiling. "I think that once you make the PGA TOUR your game travels pretty well.

"Everything is clicking right now. I played really well last week, just didn't make the putts. This time I'm playing well and some of the putts are dropping."
