Jose de Jesus Rodriguez has all but clinched a spot on the Web.com Tour for 2014. This week, he'll be on the PGA TOUR. Rodriguez, who leads the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica Order of Merit, is playing in this week's OHL Classic at Mayakoba on a sponsor exemption.
Rodriguez is one of four players from Mexico in the field for the PGA TOUR's lone stop in Mexico. Roberto Diaz, Oscar Fraustro and Esteban Toledo also are playing this week.
Rodriguez, 32, has earned $97,006 on PGA TOUR Latinoamerica in 2013, more than $17,000 ahead of second-place Ryan Blaum. The top five players on the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica Order of Merit earn Web.com Tour status. Rodriguez has finished in the top three in five of 10 PGA TOUR Latinoamerica starts this year, including two wins. He has made the cut in two of four OHL Classic starts, with a best finish of T-38.
Fraustro, 31, finished second on the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica Order of Merit in 2012. He finished 73rd on the Web.com Tour money list this year. He missed the cut in his only OHL Classic appearance.
Toledo, 51, won twice on the Champions Tour this year and finished 13th in the Charles Schwab Cup. He has made the cut in four of six OHL Classic starts, with a best finish of T-11 in 2008.
Diaz, 26, is 44th on the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica Order of Merit.
