Homa clinches another TOUR start

By Sean Martin, PGATOUR.COM

SAN MARTIN, Calif. -- Max Homa finished in the top 10 in his pro debut at the Frys.com Open to earn another TOUR start at next week's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Homa, the 2013 NCAA individual champion, played collegiate golf at nearby Cal-Berkeley.

He shot four consecutive rounds at CordeValle Golf Club in the 60s to tie for ninth at 12-under 272 (69-68-66-69). He birdied Nos. 16 and 17 to shoot a bogey-free 34 on his back nine Sunday and clinch a top-10 finish, hitting a 9-iron to 5 feet on 16 before driving the par-4 17th with a 3-wood and two-putting from 37 feet.

"Hard," Homa replied when asked to describe the day. "It was really stressful."
