Match recap: Haas-Stricker (U.S.) def. Scott-Matsuyama (Int'l), 4 & 3

Early bird

Bill Haas stuffs his approach to 3 feet on the par-3 12th and Steve Stricker converts the birdie en route to a U.S. foursomes victory on Sunday.

DUBLIN, Ohio -- Bill Haas and Steve Stricker coasted to a 4 and 3 win over Adam Scott and Hidkei Matsuyama in their foursomes match.

The Americans never trailed after the fourth hole and hit the gas pedal once play resumed Sunday morning with three birdis over the final four holes for a commanding win. Stricker improved to 3-1-0 on the week but it was Haas who was clutch late in the match, sticking his tee shot on the difficult par-3 12th to 3 feet and adding a 10-footer for birdie on the 14th. On the final hole of the match, Haas clinched the mact by sinking a 4-footer for birdie after Matsuyama had rolled in a birdie putt of his own.

Bill Haas. You could go either way as the duo ham-and-egged it well but Haas made four of the team's seven birdies.
