DUBLIN, Ohio -- One of the staples in the team rooms at the Presidents Cup is a Ping-Pong table. Several players are so serious about the game that they bring their own paddles.
Over the last few years, Matt Kuchar -- who sometimes competes with his wife Sybi in actual tennis tournaments -- has been the undisputed king of the table, although Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods have been known to give him a run for his money.
This year, though, Mickelson appears ready to upset the apple cart. That's because he's hired a Ping-Pong coach.
"There were some reports that I took some lessons for pong prior to this tournament, and those reports would be correct," Mickelson said with a knowing smile.
The big left-hander said he hasn't played any matches yet, though. But that could change soon.
"Been taking it easy, again, working on the fundamentals, but it seems like it's coming around," Mickelson reported. "I'm ready for the challenge with some of the players."
