TEAM PERSPECTIVE
United States: Spieth told Couples he would be happy to play with anyone. But Couples appeared to settle on Stricker early on and hopes the pairing of veteran and rookie will pay off the way the Phil Mickelson-Keegan Bradley experiment did at the Ryder Cup. Stricker invited Spieth to play a practice round at the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola and the hit it off immediately. "I think we both have the ability to stay in the hole," Stricker said. -- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM
International: This figures to be a dangerous pairing, and could prove to be a pivotal match. Els has been playing at Muirfield Village forever and has had success here, including a win in 2004 when he shot 66-66 on the weekend. Though de Jonge is a rookie in this event, he has played here plenty before and has enjoyed some success, tying for 12th at the 2010 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance. -- Brian Wacker, PGATOUR.COM
