Featured groups for Deutsche Bank

The groups are set for the first two rounds of this week's Deutsche Bank Championship, the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs.

With the tournament's traditional Labor Day finish next Monday, the first round starts Friday at TPC Boston.

As with all FedExCup Playoffs events, the groups start out based on their position in the FedExCup points standings. For Deutsche Bank, that means the players ranked Nos. 1, 2 and 3 in points will be group together for the first two rounds, with Nos. 4, 5 and 6 grouped together, and so on.

Here's a look at some of the featured groups this week (FedExCup ranking in parentheses):

Tiger Woods (1), Adam Scott (2), Phil Mickelson (3) -- Scott, the winner of The Barclays, will be the middle man for this dream group. Thursday's first round will be the 33rd time that Woods and Mickelson have played together in the same group on TOUR. Tee time: Rd. 1 - 8:40 a.m. ET off 10th tee; Rd. 2 - 1:10 p.m. ET off 1st tee

Matt Kuchar (4), Justin Rose (5), Brandt Snedeker (6) -- Each will need to shake off the disappointment of last week -- Kuchar shooting a final-round 78 after sharing the third round lead; Rose missing a putt on the 72nd hole that would've put him in a playoff with Adam Scott; and Snedeker missing the cut for the second straight week. Tee time: Rd. 1 - 1:10 p.m. ET off 1st tee; Rd. 2 - 8:40 a.m. ET off 1st tee

Graham DeLaet (7), Bill Haas (8), Jordan Spieth (9) -- Haas, the 2011 FedExCup champ, will be group with a couple of the TOUR's rising stars. DeLaet moved from 34th to 7th thanks to his tie for second at The Barclays. Tee time: Rd. 1 - 8:28 a.m. ET off 10th tee; Rd. 2 - 12:58 p.m. ET off 1st tee

Gary Woodland (10), Keegan Bradley (11), Kevin Streelman (12) -- Bradley, who grew up in the New England area, will be one of the big favorites among the TPC Boston gallery this week. Woodland comes off a tie for second after sharing the 54-hole lead with Kuchar. Tee time: Rd. 1 - 12:58 p.m. ET off 1st tee; Rd. 2 - 8:28 a.m. ET off 1st tee

Other groups of notes: Zach Johnson, returning this week after taking last week off to attend his brother's wedding, will play with Harris English and Bubba Watson ... Likewise, Steve Stricker returns to be paired with Charl Schwartzel and Jimmy Walker ... Defending champion Rory McIlroy will play with Nick Watney and Roberto Castro.
