Wind wreaking havoc in afternoon

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Kevin Streelman shot 1-under 70.

Charley Hoffman did the same.

Steve LeBrun carded a 3-under 68.

None of the rounds were terribly low but all were good enough to grab a share of the lead -- for now -- at the RBC Heritage.

With the wind blowing even harder during the afternoon wave -- at least 20 mph -- 6 under might hold up heading into the weekend.

There hasn't been much headway otherwise.

Pat Perez and Webb Simpson are both 2 under in the middle of the second round and 5 under for the week. Another seven players are a stroke back, including overnight leader Brian Davis, who is 2 over through his first six holes.

How tough are conditions? The scoring average has ballooned to 72.113 for the second round.

Conditions are also expected to worsen later on with widespread showers and thunderstorms developing around 4 p.m. ET. The thunderstorms could produce heavy rainfall and the chace of rain is 80 percent.

The cut, meanwhile, is at 1 over, meaning Brandt Snedeker and Zach Johnson, among others, have some work to do to see the weekend.

Snedeker and Johnson are both a shot outside the number in the middle of their second rounds.
