Mickelson holding Sneds at bay

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- First it was Padraig Harrington, now Brandt Snedeker is giving chase.

But Phil Mickelson continues to make enough birdies to maintain a comfortable cushion as the third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open winds down on a spectacularly sunny Saturday at TPC Scottsdale.

Snedeker birdied both of the par 5s on the back nine -- getting up and down from beside the 13th green and two-putting from 44 feet at the other -- to pull within three strokes of Mickelson at 17 under.

But just as he did when Harrington closed to the same deficit, Mickelson answered with his own birdie at the 15th to move to 20 under. The leader has not made a bogey and is 5 under for the day.
