TIGER WOODS: No. 2 Player to Watch for 2013

Tiger Woods will be gunning for his eighth victory at Torrey Pines -- but first since his 2008 U.S. Open victory -- when he tees it up Jan. 24 at the Farmers Insurance Open.

As expected, Tiger Woods said on his website on Wednesday that he would be starting his 2013 PGA TOUR campaign at Torrey Pines.

Woods has won this event six times, including four in a row from 2005-2008. He didn't play this event in 2012, and finished tied for 44th here in 2011. Woods shot a 62 on Torrey Pines South en route to victory in 1999, which remains the course record.

"I'm excited to compete again," Woods said on his website. "I had a good break and went to see Stanford beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. Hopefully my good practice sessions will carry over.

"Obviously, I've had good success at Torrey Pines. I practically grew up playing the South and North Courses. The fans have always been supportive, and I look forward to returning."

Woods will play the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on the European Tour next week for his 2013 debut.
