Sneds up by two after bomb at No. 8

Snedeker birdies No. 8

Brandt Snedeker holes a 40-foot putt for birdie on the par-4 eighth hole.

ATLANTA -- Brandt Snedeker now leads by two after draining a 40-footer for birdie at the eighth hole.

He's back to 8 under, which is where he started the day. Ryan Moore, who is even par for the day, and Justin Rose, who is 2 over, are tied for second.

Jim Furyk is alone in fourth at 5 under while Bubba Watson is another stroke back in sixth.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy isn't helping his FedExCup hopes right now.

The Northern Irishman, who started the week ranked first, just made the turn at 4 over and he has yet to hit a fairway on the front nine. He’s fallen to 1 under and into a tie for 11th.

McIlroy has shot in the 60s in his last 11 rounds -- a streak that appears in danger on Sunday.

Tiger Woods made his first birdie of the day at the ninth hole, but he followed with another bogey at No. 10 and he’s 4 over for the day and even for the tournament. He currently stands third in the FedExCup projections.

Woods has only hit two of his first eight fairways and just five of 10 greens in regulation.
