FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The 36-hole co-leaders have just teed off to start their third rounds in the final pairing at The Barclays. This season, Sergio Garcia has enjoyed much better third-round success than Nick Watney.

Garcia’s third-round scoring average is 70.50, which ranks him tied for 55th on the PGA TOUR. He made a huge leap in that statistical category thanks to his third-round 66 last week en route to winning the Wyndham Championship. Prior to that, Garcia had ranked tied for 87th in that category.

As for Watney, his third-round scoring average is 71.35, which ranks tied for 121st on TOUR. His average took a big hit when he shot a 79 in the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard in late March, and a 76 in the third round of THE PLAYERS in May.
