Logjam at the top -- for now

There’s now a three-way tie atop the leaderboard at Hamilton G&CC, where Scott Piercy, William McGirt and Robert Garrigus are all 12 under.

Garrigus has the day’s best round going of the group at 2 under through his first four holes.

Piercy briefly grabbed the lead by himself with a birdie on the opening hole, but he gave it back with a bogey on No. 3 before bouncing back with another birdie on No. 4.

Chris Kirk and Josh Teater are tied for fourth two shots back, while J.B. Holmes, Bo Van Pelt, Vijay Singh and Tim Clark are all 9 under.

Of that group, Clark has had the longest road back to this point. He had wrist surgery in 2010 and has struggled to find his form since.

He knew the road back would be tough -- he missed three of his first four cuts and was disqualified from the other -- but knew playing was the only way to get through it.

The last couple of months have been better for Clark, and he hasn’t made a bogey at Hamilton G&CC since the opening round.
