Conditions good for scoring -- for now

By Brian Wacker, PGATOUR.COM

DORAL, Fla. -- With almost no wind and clear skies, conditions are ripe for scoring at TPC Blue Monster at Doral, and several players off early are taking advantage of the benign conditions.

Aaron Baddeley and Marcus Fraser are both 5 under through their first 10 and 11 holes, respectively. Ditto Martin Laird and Chez Reavie, who are through 14 and 16 holes. Branden Grace, who won twice on the European Tour this year, is already in with an 8-under 64.

Grace went out in 30, closing with four straight birdies over his final five holes before adding two more to open the back nine. He had 10 one-putts on his way to just 22 putts overall, though he is well back 2 under for the tournament.

By the time the final group of Bubba Watson and Justin Rose tee off at 1:45 p.m. ET, however, they could be facing some weather. The forecast is calling for a 40 percent of thunderstorms beginning at 1 p.m. with storms continuing all the way through to 6 p.m. when it drops to 30 percent.
