Leaderboard update: Watney surges

NORTON, Mass. --  Nick Watney made up three strokes in the first two holes to move into the lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Watney rolled in a 5-footer for birdie on No. 1 and an 11-footer for eagle at the second to take sole possession of the top spot at 11 under. The eagle was Watney's second of the tournament.

Watney has also made eight birdies and just one bogey during his first 40 holes at TPC Boston. He's currently projected to return to No. 1 in the FedExCup after being misplaced by

Adam Scott tied him briefly with a birdie at the second. But the Aussie gave that shot back when he missed the green -- twice -- at the par-3 third.

Bubba Watson is tied with Scott at 10 under after playing his firts three holes in even par. Charl Schwartzel, who joined the two in the overnight lead, bogeyed No. 3 when he missed the green and a 4-foot putt to save par.
