Swedes setting early pace

BETHESDA, Md. -- A pair of Swedes are setting the pace early during the first round of the U.S. Open.

Johan Edfors, a three-time winner on the European Tour, has played his first eight holes in 3 under and is one stroke head of his playing partner, Fredrik Jacobsen.

Two more playing partners who appear to be feeding off each other are defending champion Graeme McDowell and reigning British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen. Both have just made the turn at 1 under.

Also at 1 under are Kevin Streelman, Chez Reavie, J.J. Henry, Ernie Els, David Love III, Jeff Overton, Ryan Palmer, Nick O'Hern and Bud Cauley. Els won the U.S. Open in 1997, the last time it was played at Congressional.
