Henley gets to 3 under

By Melanie Hauser, PGATOUR.COM BETHESDA, Md. -- Amateur Russell Henley has joined the group at 3 under for the tournament. The University of Georgia senior, who won the Nationwide's Stadion Classic in May, started the round even par and birdied the fourth, sixth and eighth holes to join Jason Day, Zach Johnson and Henrik Stenson at 3 under. Henley, who became the second amateur to win Nationwide event -- he won on his home course -- is staying amateur to play in the Walker Cup. He was low-am at last year's U.S. Open, finishing at 8 over and in 16th place.
