Bramlett climbs into contention for card

Stanford’s Joseph Bramlett is making a big move up the leaderboard. The Californian is 4 under through 13 holes and has moved from a tie for 33rd to a tie for 14th.

Bramlett’s round didn’t start out particularly auspiciously as he made bogey on the second and third holes. But he rallied with five straight birdies starting at the eighth hole and has put himself in position to earn his PGA TOUR card.

Bramlett has played in two TOUR events, both this season. He shot 79-75 and missed the cut at the U.S. Open, where he played two practice rounds with fellow Stanford alum Tiger Woods. He shot 74-71 at the Frys.com Open.
