Ebb and flow of the FedExCup

It’s way to early in the week and the opening round to look all the way to next week and the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, but we’re going to anyway -- especially given the names atop the leaderboard at Sedgefield Country Club right now.

Of the eight players currently tied at 4 under, only two of them -- Bob Estes and Robert Garrigus -- are inside the top 125 in FedExCup points. And of the remaining six, only one of them -- Jeff Quinney -- is better than 140th in points ( click here for the live projections).

If the board were to stay the way it is for the rest of the week, all of them would be 67th or higher, assuring a deep run in the Playoffs. Of course, as this is being written, the board is already changing with Estes now alone at 5 under. Nonetheless, you get the idea. There is a lot at stake for these guys this week. -- Brian Wacker
