MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Months before the world’s best golfers roam the fairways of TPC Southwind for the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, runners and walkers will have a chance of their own to take a triumphant stroll (or sprint) down the 17th and 18th holes of TPC Southwind as part of the Fairway 5K presented by the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
“The popularity of the Fairway 5K has surged in recent years with over 1,600 participants in 2018 as a kickoff to the PGA TOUR’s annual stop here in Memphis,” said Darrell Smith, Executive Director, WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. “As we welcome the World Golf Championships to Memphis this year for the first time, we’re expecting an even larger contingent this Spring as the Fairway 5K continues to provide runners of all abilities with an extremely unique race route and one of the best race after-parties around.”
The annual race starts at 8:00 a.m. CST alongside the practice range before taking a tour through the tree-lined streets of the TPC Southwind neighborhood and finishing along the 17th and 18th holes at TPC Southwind. For those who finish, or just those who want to support a worthy cause, an after-party and reward awaits at the finish line with live music, mimosas, Bloody Marys, pizza, and beer on tap. This spring kick-off event for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational is sponsored by Southern Security Federal Credit Union. The WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational annually benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and has raised more than $43 million for St. Jude since 1970.
“We’re proud to partner on the Fairway 5K with the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational team,” said Lauren Brown, Marketing Director, Southern Security Federal Credit Union. “It’s a great way to showcase our community support in a meaningful way while promoting health and wellness.”
