T-30 days until the best in the world arrive
The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational hot sheet offers updates from the PGA TOUR and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the final World Golf Championships event of the 2017-18 PGA TOUR Season played this year at Firestone Country Club’s South Course, August 1-5.
Yes – the PGA TOUR is home to incredible golf. Yes – the legends of the game have all won at Firestone Country Club. Simply put, these guys know how to #LiveUnderPar. But it isn’t just a way to play, it’s a way to be.
That attitude extends beyond the rope-line each week on the PGA TOUR and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational is proud to be a part of such a rich, giving tradition.
This past month, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and Northern Ohio Golf Charities announced a donation of more than $1 million to local charitable organizations, bringing the total to more than $27 million since 1984.
So remember, when you buy a ticket to the tournament, think of it as a way to give back to the community instead of just attending a golf tournament. #perspective
He shot a 61 in last year’s final round, he’s from Japan, he’s one of the best in the world, and he’s coming back to Akron. That’s right, 2018 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational champion Hideki Matsuyama has officially committed to return for his title defense.
Yes, his tournament-record-tying 61 on Sunday was a thing of beauty, but his range session that morning was…well… “It was probably the worst warmup I've ever had on a tournament that I've won.” He said it, not us.
In Hideki’s mind, his warm up probably went something like this.
Sixty-one strokes later, the Japanese phenom had his second WGC title…of the season. #overachiever
ICYMI, we announced the several (and we mean several) local food and drink options available to fans on site at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Your newbies in 2018: Handel’s Ice Cream, Nelly Belly Pizza and Saucy Brew Works. #yourewelcome
The Oldies but Goodies? You may have heard of them…Swenson’s Food Truck, Michael Symon’s B Spot Burgers, Hatfield’s Goode Grub and Barrio Tacos.
Need something to wash it down? We’ve got you covered there, too. Head over to the Grey Goose 19th Hole behind the 14th tee for the signature cocktail of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational: The Green Monster Mule.
OK, now you can pick your tongue up off the floor…
But he’s getting closer!
Yes, we’re talking about the guy with an animal for a first name who wears red on Sundays.
Tiger made a big leap in the Official World Golf Ranking over the weekend courtesy of a T4 finish at the Quicken Loans National, jumping him from No. 82 to No. 67.
How can he qualify for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational? Simple. WIN, or move inside the top 50 by either July 23 or July 30.
Trust him, he wants another crack at Firestone. Badly.
Everyone’s favorite pink-driver wielding left-hander has been a force on TOUR this season. Look no further than the THREE new pieces of hardware in his trophy case. No one else has that many this season…#justsayin
Bubba Watson, now committed to the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, will be back to wow Northeast Ohio’s finest with his go-for-broke style of play and lovable personality. Let’s face it, what’s more entertaining in golf than watching Bubba launch a drive down the fairway at the signature par-5 16th hole at Firestone? We’ll wait…
Heck, he’s got so much confidence in his go-for-broke game right now, would we be surprised if he arrived at Firestone driving this?
