Charitable Giving

As successful as the Valero Texas Open was "inside the ropes," the most fulfilling aspect is the event's impact "outside the ropes." The Valero Texas Open is always driven by its charitable mission - in 2015, the tournament raised $10.4 million for charity, making us proud yet humbled to become only the fourth PGA TOUR event to eclipse the $100 Million milestone in funds raised for charity. Throughout its history, the tournament has raised $105.5 million for charities - $101 million of that since 2002, when Valero became the title sponsor. The 2016 tournament raised $10.5 million for charity, totaling $116 million in total funds raised.

Birdies for Charity

The Valero Texas Open's Birdies for Charity®, a fundraising program designed in 1997, gives participating charities and schools a unique platform to engage potential donors and generate contributions. A no-cost program, Birdies for Charity, gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organizations.

Funds are generated by soliciting pledges from individuals and corporations. Birdies for Charity is like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, participants make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. The 2016 Valero Texas Open had 1,834 birdies made, so a pledge of $0.01 yielded a donation of $18.34. Donors also have the ability to make a one-time donation with the flexibility to pay in advance or to be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible, thanks to the Valero Texas Open's non-profit 501(c)3 status.

Spectators can make a donation to a participating Birdies for Charity organization all the way through tournament week. Help support your favorite charity or school through Birdies for Charity at: http://www.ValeroTexasOpen.com/birdies

Attend the Valero Texas Open, April 20-23, 2017 at TPC San Antonio and stop by the Donation Station in Fan Fest at main gate entrance. As a donor, check in and get entered into a drawing to earn the charity you supported a $20,000 donation in your honor. Each day attended, earns additional entries into the drawing. The lucky donor will also win a wonderful and exciting prize of their own to enjoy.

In addition, all donors who stop by the Donation Station will receive this year's official Valero Texas Open Fiesta medal as a token of appreciation for your contribution, support and attending the Valero Texas Open. We look forward to seeing you this April!

Benefit for Children

The 2017 Valero Texas Open Benefit for Children, Valero's annual charitable fundraiser focusing on children in need, will begin on Sunday, April 23, with an extraordinary Welcome Party at the fabulous JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, then continue on Monday, April 24, with morning and afternoon golf outings on 11 of San Antonio's top courses, including both the Greg Norman and Pete Dye courses at the beautiful TPC San Antonio. Or, sponsors may choose to participate in a sporting clays tournament on that Monday at the Joshua Creek Ranch.
