As successful as the Valero Texas Open was "inside the ropes," the most fulfilling aspect is the event's impact "outside the ropes." The Valero Texas Open is always driven by its charitable mission - in 2015, the tournament raised $10.4 million for charity, making us proud yet humbled to become only the fourth PGA TOUR event to eclipse the $100 Million milestone in funds raised for charity. The 2018 tournament raised $12 million for charity. Throughout its history, the tournament has raised over $138 million for charities.
Birdies for Charity
The Valero Texas Open's Birdies for Charity®, a fundraising program designed in 1997, gives participating charities and schools a unique platform to engage potential donors and generate contributions. A no-cost program, Birdies for Charity, gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organizations. And through the tournament proceeds, the Valero Texas Open matches 7% of the collected funds through the fundraiser.
Funds are generated by soliciting donations from individuals and corporations with the flexibility to pay in advance or to be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible, thanks to the Valero Texas Open's non-profit 501(c)3 status.
Spectators can make a donation to a participating Birdies for Charity organization all the way through tournament week. Help support your favorite charity or school through Birdies for Charity and make a 107% difference!
Attend the Valero Texas Open, April 4-7, 2019 at TPC San Antonio and stop by the Donation Station in Fan Fest near the main gate entrance. As a donor, check in and get entered into a drawing to earn the charity you supported a $20,000 donation in your honor. Each day attended, earns additional entries into the drawing. The lucky donor will also win a wonderful and exciting prize of their own to enjoy.
In addition, all donors who stop by the Donation Station will receive this year's official Valero Texas Open Fiesta medal as a token of appreciation for your contribution, support and attending the Valero Texas Open. We look forward to seeing you this April!
