THE NORTHERN TRUST launches 2019 Tickets Fore Charity program
JERSEY CITY, New Jersey – The FedExCup Playoffs start with THE 2019 NORTHERN TRUST, and so does community impact. The story of Ray and Chris Harold illustrates the far-reaching influence of this premier tournament, which returns to Jersey City this August 7-11 and will be played at the iconic Liberty National Golf Club.
“Golf has allowed me to cultivate some of my most cherished relationships, especially the special connection I share with my son, Chris, as his playing partner, coach and caddie,” said Ray Harold, head coach of the New Jersey Special Olympics golf team and father to Special Olympics gold medalist, Chris.
“This game has given us so much. Chris now works in the industry and is working to become a PGA member. And, THE NORTHERN TRUST’s support of the New Jersey Golf Foundation allows us to introduce this wonderful sport and its many benefits to athletes with a variety of intellectual disabilities.”
At a charity breakfast this past fall, THE NORTHERN TRUST announced a record-setting $1.865 million for local charities from the 2018 tournament, bringing the all-time total to nearly $50 million since inception in 1967. The New Jersey Golf Foundation was recognized at the breakfast as the top-selling Tickets Fore Charity organization, and Ray and Chris Harold accepted a check on the Foundation’s behalf for $39,868.
Tickets Fore Charity is a key program THE NORTHERN TRUST uses to drive charitable and community impact year-round. Tickets Fore Charity provides non-profit organizations with the ability to raise funds through the sale of tournament tickets, with 100% of the proceeds going to charity—25% to Tackle Kids Cancer, the official charity of THE NORTHERN TRUST, and 75% to the participating charity. In 2018, this program raised nearly $100,000 for local charities, and in addition to the New Jersey Golf Foundation, other top recipients included Christian Health Care Center, Northern Highlands Sports Association and The First Tee of Raritan Valley.
THE NORTHERN TRUST tournament officials announced today that 501(c)3 organizations located in the New York and New Jersey area can now register to participate in Tickets Fore Charity. Beginning on February 4, individuals can purchase tickets through the Tickets Fore Charity program to support the participating charity of their choice.
For Charities: • Link to register: https://registrations.pgatourhq.com/forms/tfctnt/ • Requirements: • Must be a 501(c)3 organization and based in the New York or New Jersey area. • In order to receive 75% of the proceeds, the charity or organization must sell a minimum of 50 tickets.
In addition, the top-five charities that sell the most tickets will receive additional proceeds from a $25,000 bonus pool.
Individuals who purchase tickets to THE NORTHERN TRUST through Tickets Fore Charity will not only receive a ticket to watch the best golfers in the world while soaking up views of the best skyline in sports, they will also support a local charity of their choosing.
