Birdies for Charity
Birdies for Charity is a giving platform that utilizes the excitement around the Rocket Mortgage Classic to help nonprofit organizations raise awareness and funds to support their missions. The Birdies for Charity program directs 100 percent of proceeds back to the participating charities, and there are no administrative fees or heavy lifting for participating organizations. Donors will be able to direct their funds to their chosen organizations, and can either make a flat donation or pledge a set amount per birdie made by PGA TOUR players during competition rounds at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Adding an element of competition to the program, donors will also get to submit their guess for their number of birdies made during the tournament.
The First Tee of Greater Detroit
The First Tee of Greater Detroit’s mission is to make golf accessible to all youth in metro Detroit, with a focus on underrepresented young people in the city of Detroit. The First Tee of Greater Detroit helps reshape the worldview of underserved youth in Detroit and surrounding areas by teaching life skills and character education through the game of golf. We partner with schools, parents and the community to provide evidence-based curricula for participants to achieve successful outcomes for their future.
Midnight Golf Program
The mission of the Midnight Golf Program is to improve under-served young adults’ personal development, educational preparedness and appreciation of the game of golf. We blend rigorous life and career skills training with mentoring to help our young people gain the skills and confidence necessary to thrive in a college, a rewarding career and beyond. Our industry-leading program is designed to serve and empower Detroit's future leaders every step of the way and continues to produce remarkable results. Since 2001, we have served more than 2,500 students. 99% have enrolled in a post-secondary program and 70% have graduated college within 4-6 years, a rate that is 4-times higher than their Detroit peers.
Detroit Golf Club Caddie Scholarship Fund
The mission of the Detroit Golf Club Caddie Scholarship Foundation is to help the caddies of the Detroit Golf Club achieve their higher educational dreams. Working as a caddie at the Detroit Golf Club helps young men and young women learn the importance of discipline and a good work ethic. The caddies have to get up early and come to work every work day. Caddies at the Detroit Golf Club also have a tremendous opportunity to meet and interact with successful business people, medical and legal professionals, professional athletes, politicians and other successful men and women on the golf course. We believe that this can help our caddies form their dreams as to what they want to be in the future. We try to award a DGC Caddis Scholarship to every caddie who meets the work/caddie loop requirements. The Caddie Scholarship is in the total amount of $10,000 payable over 4 years at $2500 per year and can be used at any college, university, community college or trade school. The Caddie Scholars are required to meet minimum performance and reporting requirements in order for the Caddie Scholarship to continue for the full 4 year period.
Detroit Children’s Fund
Currently only one in ten children have access to a quality public school. Detroit Children’s Fund’s (DCF) mission is to greatly improve these odds by funding and executing on three core strategies. 1. DCF TACKLES SYSTEMIC ISSUES that hinder or prevent school improvement. Examples include the creation of a Detroit based school rating system and technology and data system upgrades for schools. 2. DCF IMPROVES EDUCATOR TALENT by funding intense school leadership training programs and in-classroom teacher coaching. To address the chronic teacher shortages, DCF also supports city-wide initiatives to recruit and retain more teachers. 3. DCF INCREASES SCHOOL QUALITY by funding customized strategies that enable schools to improve and expand. Examples include implementation of new curriculum, the creation of master teacher programs, facility upgrades and the purchase of basic tools students need to learn like computers and textbooks. In all cases, DCF actively engages with schools and teachers, and sees each intervention as a partnership to learn – and ultimately succeed – together. DCF’s core belief is that every child in Detroit deserves a quality education and, with long-term comprehensive support, it’s possible for every Detroit school to provide one.
