ECCO is synonymous with spikeless golf shoes. From the moment Fred Couples laced up a pair of the Street Hybrids in 2010, the Danish brand has been at the forefront of the spikeless movement.

ECCO's latest release, the BIOM® Hybrid 3, brings new technology to the spikeless design for increased traction, comfort and performance. The familiar nubs on the outsole have been replaced with a new Tri-Fi-Grip™ outsole. Divided into three key segments, this new design features a multi-purpose zonal performance structure for stability, durability and rotational support.

In Zone 1, large diamond-shaped lugs created from a stiffer material sit on the lateral side of the outsole in the forefoot and heel areas to deliver stability. Zone 2 is all about comfort. It forms the middle of the outsole and is designed to enhance walking comfort over the course of 18 holes and beyond. This zone also includes a durability region in the heel, an area where shoes typically experience wear and tear. Zone 3, or the rotational support zone, features rounded lugs to promote a fast and easy rotation through the swing. Put all three of these zones together, and the new Tri-Fi-Grip outsole helps the foot to move from the backswing to the downswing and on to the finish with ease.

Other technological advancements on the BIOM Hybrid 3 are FLUIDFORM™ and BIOM NATURAL MOTION®. FLUIDFORM is an innovative construction process where the upper and the outsole are bonded together to create a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. The result is a more flexible, durable and lightweight construction. BIOM NATURAL MOTION uses an anatomical last (or mold) to bring players closer to the ground and to encourage a more natural walking motion down the fairways. A smart design with a snug heel and a roomier toe box enhances the comfort and stability of the shoe and a removable insole allows for a wider or narrower fit.

Another improvement included in the BIOM Hybrid 3 is waterproofing. The famous yak leather uppers on previous generations of the shoe were treated with a weather resistant substance, but this latest generation uses a GORE-TEX® membrane to completely protect the foot from early morning dew and spring showers.

From a style standpoint, the BIOM Hybrid 3 brings a bold and athletic look to ECCO's lineup. Prints are a strong trend in the world of golf and it is not unusual to see daring prints on apparel pieces these days. With the BIOM Hybrid 3, ECCO has brought this trend to shoes. An eye-catching metallic micro print brings an added punch to two of the colorways. More traditional white, gray and black colorways are also available in the laced version, while white and gray colorways are available for the model with a BOA closure system. Giving this sporty-looking shoe a touch of sophistication is a branded leather pull tab on the tongue of the laced model.

The ECCO BIOM Hybrid 3 is on store shelves now.
