The Waste Management Phoenix Open has a history of promoting and providing education on environmental sustainability, earning it the title of “The Greenest Show on Grass.” In an effort to support and amplify the earth-friendly message, many players will sport their best green colored threads during Saturday’s Green Out. Rickie Fowler took it a step further, though.
For Thursday’s opening round, Fowler capped off his stylish outfit with a Puma hat constructed with 100% recycled materials, which feeds into the tournament's core values. He is expected to wear one on Saturday as well. Since arriving on the PGA TOUR, Fowler has been one of the biggest trendsetters in the headwear game. If Rickie is doing something new and different with a hat, fans and fellow players take notice. No matter where you stand on his flat bills, snapbacks, and gradient print lids, a completely recyclable hat is a trend that we can all get behind.
Available in white/green and green/white colorways, this special edition hat is a modern take on a classic snapback. The super clean design features a simple 3D embroidered ‘P’ logo on the front and Puma’s leaping cat logo on the back. Fowler first debuted the ‘P’ hat at the Hero World Challenge in December en route to a four-shot victory.
“Rickie is certainly recognized for his confidence, style, and swagger on and off course. He’s been with Puma since turning professional, and though his preferences have matured over the years, he still is a trendsetter in fashion and style, which means we get to have some fun when designing his footwear and accessories,” said Grant Knudson, Head of Footwear & Accessories for Puma Golf. “The P cap we designed with him in mind, reflects that maturity and on-trend style – a more modern take on the classic snapback look, that transitions well from the course to daily life.”
In addition to the recycled caps, Rickie will also wear an untucked knit polo at TPC Scottsdale for ‘Casual Friday.’ The laidback approach comes on the heels of Fowler donning an untucked Aloha shirt at the Sentry Tournament of Champions on the island of Maui last month.
The recycled ‘P’ caps and the untucked knit shirt are available through the Puma Golf and TrendyGolf USA websites.
