For 2016, Adidas Golf gave the iconic TOUR360 shoe a modern reboot with full-length Boost cushioning and an improved 360WRAP. Now for 2017, the three-stripes brand has once again reached back into the archives and given another classic shoe, the Powerband, a modern makeover.

Worn by Jon Rahm during his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, the new Powerband Boa Boost combines a decade's worth of knowledge with state of the art technology to deliver top-shelf comfort, traction, support, and stability.

The most notable feature on the Powerband Boa Boost is the brand new L6 Boa® Closure System, an incremental pull and push mechanism conveniently located on the top of the tongue that allows for micro-adjustability. A simple turn of the dial to the right tightens the laces for a custom fit. Pulling up on the knob releases the wire laces, making it easy to remove the shoe at the end of a round.

In addition to the convenience and micro-adjustability benefits, Adidas Golf uses the Boa Closure System to create stability. It seamlessly incorporated the Boa system into the updated POWERCAGE saddle by threading soft wires through three TPU bands on the lateral side of the shoe. As the dial is cranked to the right, these soft wires engage with the Boa system through a 360LOOP guide. This helps to lock down the midfoot area to create stability and to prevent power leaks during the swing.

The Powerband Boa Boost is built on a new competition last that offers a classic rounded toe design and a wider forefoot. This allows the toes to spread out, which not only improves the comfort of the shoe, but it also helps players to generate more power. The lightweight Climaproof stretch microfiber upper checks in at a feathery 11 ounces and is easy to clean after a day on the links.

In the midsole, the Powerband Boa Boost features two of Adidas’ leading technologies—Boost and Bounce. Boost is a soft and lightweight foam that stretches from the heel to the midfoot area. The biggest advantage that Boost has over traditional EVA midsoles is its energy return. In fact, Adidas Golf says Boost possesses an energy return of greater than 84 percent. Standard EVA materials are said to have an energy return of between 50 percent and 65 percent. Bounce, on the other hand, is a firmer more responsive material that is found in the forefoot of the Powerband Boa Boost for cushioning and comfort.

In designing the outsole, Adidas set out to create a stable base with TOUR-quality grip and performance for players with the highest swing speeds. The result is a TPU outsole that is comprised of a six-cleat traction system with strategically placed secondary molded lugs. The newly designed thintech® EXP cleats feature a shallower arm angle to improve green friendliness, while still providing the performance that TOUR players demand. Designers even took the shoe to Pebble Beach, which is known for its super soft greens, to ensure that the new low profile cleats did not cause any damage to the greens.

From a style standpoint, the Powerband Boa Boost is bold, modern, and athletic. It borrows the s-curved heel design from Adidas’ running line and the aggressive branding presents a fresh look for the golf collection. Available in five colorways, the Powerband Boa Boost allows you to amp up your look with eye-catching accent colors or you can take a more understated approach with classic color options.

The Powerband Boa Boost is available at retail shops in medium or wide widths at an MSRP of $179.99USD.
