    Style Insider: Masters apparel scripts

  • Bubba Watson will defend his Masters title in pieces from Oakley’s Factory Lite Collection in a cool palette of blues and grays. His Thursday and Saturday polos blend classic styles with contemporary details, while his Friday and Sunday looks are bold and aggressive. Our Style Insider likes the modern tipping on the collar and sleeves of Thursday’s Wesley Polo and the heathered effect on Saturday’s Newlyn Polo adds some subtle texture. Rory McIlroy (Nike Golf)

Rory McIlroy’s script is crisp and clean, and it exemplifies Nike Golf’s two major themes for the Masters — comfort with zero distractions, and pops of volt against a palette of neutrals. For each round, Rory will pair a new modern tailored pant in white with polos and shoes that feature high-energy volt accents.

Rickie Fowler (Puma Golf)

Rickie Fowler will bring some serious color to Augusta’s fairways. He’ll start the week in vibrant greens and blues before balancing pops of yellow and orange against a backdrop of grey on the weekend. Thursday’s look is my favorite. I like the youthful and energetic green mixed with the contrasting collar and placket. Also, watch for limited edition white-on-white Puma TITANTOUR shoes on Thursday and the new 5-panel cap on Saturday.

Tiger Woods (Nike Golf)

The golf world can stop holding its collective breath. Tiger Woods is playing the Masters and he will sport a range of contemporary and athletic looks in classic colors at Augusta. On Friday and Sunday, Tiger will wear Nike’s TW Glow Polo that features a modern tipped collar, accent stripes across the shoulders and spine, and a dip-dyed effect on the back.

Jordan Spieth (Under Armour)

By now you should know not to expect anything too flashy from Jordan Spieth in the sartorial department, and that’s okay. His straight-forward style is a perfect match to his approach on the course. I really like the palette of blues, purples and grays that Under Armour has selected for Spieth. These are cool and confident colors that play well with his personality and his game.

Morgan Hoffmann

Wow! Talk about making a strong statement in your Masters debut. Morgan Hoffmann has teamed up with former Ralph Lauren designer, Charlie Schaefer, to start a new golf apparel company called Greyson. Hoffmann tees it up in his first Masters in a range of custom pieces from the brand that are sure to turn heads. Friday’s jungle print pant is certainly the showcase piece of the collection, but Thursday’s camo print and Saturday’s polka dots are winners, too.

Keegan Bradley (TravisMathew)

TravisMathew’s theme for Spring 2015 has been ‘Back to Basics’ and Keegan Bradley’s Masters looks are great examples of this. Look for Keegan to pair his Jordan kicks with classic colors, bold stripes and a dash of old school cool.

Jason Day (Adidas Golf)

Adidas puts a huge focus on brand recognition at the majors, and one way that the company does this is by scripting each of its players with a signature look. For Jason Day, that means he'll sport the ClimaChill Bonded Print Polo in an array of colors over the four days. The contrast detailing on the placket, collar and sleeves add a classic touch to this modern, high tech shirt.

Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)

Dustin Johnson has been killing it in monochromatic looks this year and Sunday’s all gray ensemble keeps this tradition going. Look for DJ to sport a different colorway of Adidas’ ClimaChill 3 Stripe Deboss Polo every day. The mix of contrasting horizontal stripes and tonal vertical stripes makes for an intriguing visual effect.

Sergio Garcia (Adidas Golf)

The highlights of Sergio's script are the purple and bright blue pants on the weekend. Colorful pants have been trending in menswear and it is great to see them cross over to the game of golf. Sergio will also be sporting Adidas’ new Asym Energy Boost shoe, golf’s first fully asymmetrical shoe that features a right- or left-handed specific outsole.

Camilo Villegas (AG Green Label)

Camilo Villegas brings AG Green Label's chic and sophisticated looks to Augusta National's hallowed grounds for the first time. Best known for its designer denim, AG Green Label will outfit Camilo in modern silhouettes that are sure to turn heads for all the right reasons.

Webb Simpson (IZOD Golf)

IZOD will outfit Webb Simpson in a range of bold stripes and classic solids. Look for Simpson to debut the label's Tour+ line at Augusta. The polos in the new line feature SwingFlex technology, a unique panel system across the upper back that is designed to move with a player's swing.

Brendon Todd (Greg Norman Collection)

Brendon Todd has been a strong addition to the Greg Norman Collection team this year. He has a great sense of style and a keen understanding of fit. Todd will pair a variety of contemporary striped polos with solid pants over the four days. Pink should be one of the required colors in any Masters script and Todd is one of the few players that has the color in his line up.

John Senden (Greg Norman Collection)

John Senden's script from Greg Norman Collection is cool in more ways than one. The various shades of blue offer an air of icy confidence, while the brand’s new weatherknit technology features an aerated knit to increase air circulation.

Brandt Snedeker (Peter Millar)

Brandt Snedeker’s script features a majestic palette of fresh colors. Friday’s outfit, with the tangerine pants and fine striped shirt, combines classic good looks with seasonal colors. Brandt returns on Saturday with another strong and well balanced ensemble, as the plain white shirt will really allow the light green trousers to shine.

Bill Haas (Peter Millar)

Bill Haas’ Masters gets off to a stylish start on Thursday with a pair of muted grenadine red pants. What really pulls this look together, though, is the chocolate brown belt. While other players may opt for a high contrast color strap, like white or black, this brown belt will blend nicely with the pants to create a cohesive look. I also like the subtle blue details on the belt.

Billy Horschel (RLX Ralph Lauren)
Billy Horschel’s script is sleek and chic. In the opening round, it will smell like school spirit for Horschel as he will rock some Gator orange and blue. Although we won’t see any crazy prints from Billy Ho, his trouser game will still be strong with vibrant lime green and pink pants on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Take note of how well he balances these brights with dark polos.

Jamie Donaldson (J.Lindeberg Golf)
Jamie Donaldson finds himself in one of the premier groupings for the first two rounds, and he’ll likely find himself on a few best-dressed lists by the end of the week, too. Donaldson will stand out in a variety of unique colors and a mix of ultra-modern and classic and styles from J.Lindeberg’s Spring Collection.

Tim Herron (Bogey Pro)

It has become tradition for PGA TOUR player Tim Herron to release his own Masters script that is more satirical then sartorial. Along the way, Herron, who is not playing in this year’s Masters, succeeds at poking some good-natured fun at the golf apparel industry for the whole scripting process. Although 'Lumpy' has never been labeled a trendsetter, his 2015 script taps into a few of the biggest trends. Friday's nautical theme is certainly clean and effortless, and Sunday's monochromatic look features a splash of the trendy camo print.
