Let's examine a few numbers from the opening week of the PGA TOUR season at the Frys.com Open. ...
3 Number of hole-outs in the season opener for Danny Lee, Vijay Singh, Byron Smith and Robert Streb. ... All four players led the field and own the early season lead in the category. Streb holed out from the longest distance among the four players at 125 yards. On Friday, Mark Hubbard had the longest hole-out of the event with an ace from 195 yards. Billy Hurley III also had an ace on Friday, from 181 yards.
60 of 60 Lee Westwood had the best putting mark from inside 5 feet at the Frys.com Open. ... Westwood was one of 19 players who went perfect from this distance on the week. Last season, Westwood missed 36 putts in 616 attempts from inside of 5 feet, which ranked 171st on the PGA TOUR at 94.16 percent. He's off to a strong start in 2014-15.
71'-10" Distance of the longest putt at the Frys.com Open by Andres Gonzales. ... Gonzales drained the 70-footer for birdie in the final round on the 10th hole. He placed T26 after grabbing a share of the first-round lead.
401 Number of yards Shawn Stefani's drive traveled on the 417-yard 13th hole in the final round of the Frys.com Open on Sunday. ... It's the longest drive of the young season. In fact, there was only one 400-plus drive in all of 2013-14, a 424-yarder hit by Bubba Watson. On the 13th, Stefani's drive went right and apparently got an assist from the cart path. From there, Stefani pitched onto the green and then two-putted for par from 22 feet, 1 inch. He finished the tournament T53.
