Webb Simpson's Round 1 highlights from The RSM ClassicIn the opening round of the 2019 The RSM Classic, Webb Simpson records eight birdies to take the one-shot lead on Thursday.
In his second round at the RSM Classic, Webb Simpson hit 12 of 14 fairways and 13 of 18 greens in regulation, and had a great day on the green leaving no misses on putts within 10 feet. Simpson finished his day tied for 11th at 9 under; Tyler Duncan is in 1st at 14 under; D.J. Trahan, Rhein Gibson, and Sebastián Muñoz are tied for 2nd at 12 under; and Fabián Gómez and Ricky Barnes are tied for 5th at 11 under.
On the par-4 first, Webb Simpson's 137 yard approach to 2 feet set himself up for the birdie on the hole. This moved Webb Simpson to 1 under for the round.
After a tee shot onto the 204-yard par-3 green third, Simpson suffered from a tough three-putt for a bogey putting him at even-par for the round.
On his tee stroke on the 409-yard par-4 fifth, Simpson went into the native area and proceeded to hit his next shot to the left rough leading to his bogey. He hit his fourth onto the green and had a one-putt to finish the hole. This moved Simpson to 1 over for the round.
After a 276 yard drive on the 582-yard par-5 seventh, Simpson chipped his third shot to 1 foot, which he rolled for one-putt birdie on the hole. This moved Simpson to even for the round.
Simpson got a bogey on the 418-yard par-4 10th, getting on the green in 3 and two putting, moving Simpson to 1 over for the round.
After a drive to the right intermediate rough on the 425-yard par-4 11th hole, Simpson had a 138 yard approach shot, setting himself up for the birdie. This moved Simpson to even-par for the round.
On the 565-yard par-5 15th, Simpson had a birdie after hitting the green in 2 and two putting. This moved Simpson to 1 under for the round.
On the par-4 16th, Simpson's 142 yard approach to 2 feet set himself up for the birdie on the hole. This moved Simpson to 2 under for the round.
At the 192-yard par-3 17th, Simpson hit a tee shot 198 yards at the green, setting himself up for the 12-foot putt for birdie. This was his 3rd under-par hole in a row and moved Simpson to 3 under for the round.
On the 470-yard par-4 18th, Simpson had a bogey after hitting the green in 3 and two putting, moving Simpson to 2 under for the round.
