Maybe you've heard that Tiger Woods is making his competitive return this week. It just so happens that he's also the host of the Hero World Challenge at Isleworth Country Club in Windermere, Florida, a suburb of Orlando. It's the 16th edition of the tournament but first in his adopted home state.
Hero MotoCorp is a company headquartered in India. This is the first of its four-year partnership with Tiger Woods and his foundation. The tournament will move to Albany Golf Club in The Bahamas for 2015-2017. The Hero World Challenge distributes real prize money, albeit unofficial as it concerns earnings on the PGA TOUR. However, everyone in the field will collect Official World Golf Ranking points.
Isleworth was site to Woods' 59 the week before he won the Masters in 1997, but it's probably best known as a six-time host of the Tavistock Cup, most recently in 2013. Six of the 18 golfers in this week's field participated in that club-on-club competition at least once at Isleworth. The stock, par 36-36=72 measuring 7,544 yards is also the host course of the UCF Knights, which hosted the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational from 2005-2013. Four golfers in the Hero World Challenge teed it up here as collegians. Rickie Fowler is the only to play in both the Invitational and the Tavistock Cup at Isleworth.
Seasonal conditions are expected throughout the tournament. Only a slight chance of rain exists, temperatures will rise into the upper 70s and winds will be light to moderate.
