GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Tiger Woods is making his first appearance at the Wyndham Championship this week, and it should come as no surprise that he figures into the Featured Groups on PGA TOUR LIVE.
The tournament is the final event in which players can earn FedExCup points before the Playoffs, which begin with next week's The Barclays. Only the top 125 at the end of the Wyndham Championship advance and have a chance to win the $10 million bonus.
The PGA TOUR LIVE broadcasts begin on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 a.m. After the two Featured Groups are done, the coverage switches to the most compelling storyline on the course until the Featured Hole coverage starts at 3 p.m.
The Featured Holes at Sedgefield Country Club this week at the par-4 14th and the par-3 16th.
Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama (7:50 a.m. ET off No. 10)
Woods is ranked No. 187 and in danger of missing the FedExCup Playoffs for the second straight year. He likely needs a win to play his way in, although he has an outside shot with a runner-up finish. The other two men in his foursome rank 16th (Koepka) and 19th (Matsuyama) and are trying to solidfy their spots in the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola and perhaps work their way into the top five.
Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel and Bill Haas (8 a.m. ET off No. 10)
Haas, who went to school at nearby Wake Forest, is a perennial visitor to the Wyndham Championship. He ranks 23rd in the FedExCup. He's also 15th in the U.S. Presidents Cup standings, and trying to earn enough FedExCup points to qualify for the team. Haas will play alongside two major champions in Kaymer and Schwartzel. They've each made one appearance in Greensboro. Kaymer finished 20th in 2013, while Schwartzel finished 14th in 2012. Kaymer currently ranks 149th in the FedExCup, while Schwartzel is the bubble boy at No. 125.
Adam Scott, Luke Donald and Billy Horschel (7:50 a.m. ET off No. 10)
This group features two former world No. 1s and the most recent FedExCup champion in Billy Horschel, who currently ranks 43rd in the FedExCup. Donald enters the Wyndham ranked No. 124 and in desperate need of FedExCup points. He's only missed the Playoffs once, in 2008. Scott hasn't played in the Wyndham Championship since 2009. He comes in ranked 91st and hoping to improve his FedExCup lot.
Brandt Snedeker, Webb Simpson and Camilo Villegas (8 a.m. ET off No. 10)
Villegas is proof of what a good week at the Wyndham Championship can do for you. He came to Sedgefield ranked 105th last year, won the tournament and moved up to No. 37. This year, though, Villegas is on the outside looking in at No. 129. Snedeker and Simpson are also former Wyndham Championship winners but are in a better spot than Villegas at Nos. 13 and 49 in the FedExCup, respectively.
