Last year, when we rolled out the redesigned PGATOUR.COM, we opened up comments on stories and videos across the site for the first time. We did that because we value the community and want to encourage discussion and what can at times be rigorous (yet friendly) debate.
In making this change, one of the things we learned pretty quickly is that we were in need of a better commenting tool. One that would facilitate a stronger community with greater flexibility for commenting and one that will encourage even more discussion. It is our goal to clean some of the issues we have had in the past and ensure our loyal commenters are able to share and communicate in the best environment possible
On Wednesday, we'll be rolling out a new commenting platform -- Livefyre. Based on our research and testing, we believe Livefyre will deliver a better experience for fans. The Livefyre platform will also allow commenters to log in through a favorite social network and those comments can also be shared to a social network if desired. When we have a live blog rolling, it will also give you a chance to weigh in throughout the course of the blog.
We are working to ensure comments made in the past will still be viewable. As we transition to Livefyre, please note comments on the site will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. It's not that we don't want to hear from you, but this will be a necessary step as we move to this new platform.
Once Livefyre is in place, to comment, you will need to either log in with credentials from a favorite social network or you'll need to create a new log in. Note that moving forward, that login will provide other uses on PGATOUR.COM and eventually within our mobile apps. We'll provide more details around these new features soon but we're sure they will be helpful.
As always and particularly as you start using Livefyre, please share any thoughts with us. We'll be listening.
