PARAMUS, N.J. -- A bogey on the 18th hole Sunday at Ridgewood Country Club cost Troy Merritt a spot in next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
Merritt, who came into The Barclays 111th in FedExCup points, shot a final-round 70 to finish in a tie for 46th, leaving him just two points outside the 100th and final spot for the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs.
Meanwhile, Barclays winner Hunter Mahan extended his Playoffs streak with the victory. Already the only player to have played in all 28 Playoffs events coming into the week, he is now guaranteed to reach the season-ending TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, which would bring his streak to a perfect 32-for-32.
"That's a lot of golf. That's over a lot of years," Mahan said. "I think that's basically saying that I haven't really had a bad year in that span and that feels really good. ... I'm extremely proud of that fact."
As for who else is advancing to the Deutsche Bank Championship, there were seven players who moved in, and out, of the top 100.
