BERTHOUD, Colorado – TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes tournament officials announced on Thursday the first of four sponsor exemptions into the 156-player field. David Duval, former No. 1-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking, has accepted an invitation and will play in the inaugural Web.com Tour event at TPC Colorado, July 8-14, 2019.
“I appreciate the opportunity that the event has given me to compete in my home state of Colorado and support the community. I think it’s great that the PGA TOUR will be back on the Front Range on an annual basis, and I hope this event stays here for a long time,” said Duval.
Duval began his professional career on the Web.com Tour, winning the Nike Wichita Open in August and Nike Tour Championship in 1993. Duval earned his PGA TOUR card after finishing No. 8 on the money list after the 1994 season. Duval won 13 tournaments on the PGA TOUR, including The Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in 2001 and the 1999 PLAYERS Championship. He was the first player to shoot a 59 in the final round of a TOUR event when he did so at the 1999 Desert Classic. Duval was a member of the 1999 and 2002 U.S. Ryder Cup teams, as well as the 1996, 1998, and 2000 Presidents Cup teams. He was also a non-playing Vice-Captain of the 2019 U.S. Ryder Cup team.
“We are thrilled to have David Duval join what’s shaping up to be an incredible field for the first TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes. To have David, who originally started his storied career on this Tour, join this event, truly shows how much he loves not only golf, but Colorado and his community,” said Drew Blass, Tournament Director.
Tickets for the TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes start at $15 and can be purchased online by visiting, TPCColoradoChampionship.com.
