Miura introduces new MB-101 irons, the company’s first new blade irons since 2013

After six years, Miura has finally unveiled a new blade iron -- called the MB-101 -- to its lineup of forged muscleback irons. The new irons, like their predecessors, were designed and forged in the company’s Himeji, Japan factory; Miura’s designers now consist of Katsuhiro Miura, who’s been designing and forging irons since 1957, and his sons Shinei and Yoshitaka.
“This is a model of which the entire Miura family can be proud,” said Shinei Miura, in a press release. “My father is as passionate about the MB-101 as any club he has ever designed. Our hope is that it will be recognized as one of the finest irons our factory has ever produced and will remain in our model lineup for years to come.”
The new MB-101 irons, forged from S25C soft carbon, are designed for workability and feel, according to the company, and compared to the company’s previous muscleback models, Miura says that turf interaction and control have improved. As one would expect from a blade iron, the soles are thin, the toplines are thin, and there is little offset.
Miura says that it has improved the head shapes so that the hosels and toplines “rest easily behind the ball at address.” Also, the company says that an “improved clubface provides heightened feedback.” The soles increase in width progressively through the set, as well, so that the longer irons have slightly wider soles than the shorter irons.
The MB-101 blades (3-PW) come with a satin chrome finish, and they are available for $280 per iron at authorized Miura club fitters around the world, or at miuragolf.com.
