LAS VEGAS — Prepare for PING Glide 2.0. The latest version of PING's popular wedge made its TOUR debut in Las Vegas at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and will replace the current Glide wedge that was first unveiled during the 2014 Safeway Open.
From a cosmetics and head design standpoint, Glide and Glide 2.0 have a very similar look. The one noticeable change is the addition "Glide 2.0" just above the dished cavity. The previous version had "Glide" written in the cavity.
The wedge was available to players this week in four different grinds: Standard Sole (SS), Thin Sole (TS), Wide Sole (WS) and Eye Sole (ES).
The current Glide wedge is chrome-plated with 431 stainless steel. It's not yet known if the 2.0 version has a similar head material, or if PING decided to go with something else.
Based on the January 2015 release of Glide, it's conceivable that Glide 2.0 could be available to consumers at the beginning of next year.
